With assist from catastrophe response companions from throughout the nation, the ASPCA is urgently helping animals by evacuations, search-and-rescue, emergency sheltering, and pet meals distribution
FORT MYERS, Fla., Oct. 3, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — At the request of Lee County Domestic Animal Services, the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) is on the bottom in Fort Myers, Fla. conducting water and land search-and-rescue and supporting native emergency sheltering and pet meals distribution for animals and pet house owners impacted by Hurricane Ian. The ASPCA can be offering material experience to assist crucial catastrophe response efforts in Arcadia, Fla. Prior to the storm making landfall, the ASPCA evacuated greater than 50 homeless cats from shelters within the path of the storm and is helping within the transport of greater than 80 homeless canines and cats this week to shelters outdoors of the catastrophe zone. The ASPCA continues to interact with impacted shelters to assist extra animal evacuation and catastrophe response wants.
