BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — Bakersfield College obtained a $2 million gift to its agriculture program on Friday from family and friends of Bakersfield College Agriculture school and pig farmer, Billy Barnes.
BC’s management additionally unveiled the “The Billy Barnes Animal Science Institute at Bakersfield College” in the course of the ceremony with future indicators on the entrance of the brand new Animal Science Lab to be situated within the upcoming agriculture constructing to be accomplished in 2024.

Barnes attended Bakersfield College after graduating from South High School in 1983. He then transferred to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo earlier than later graduating from Fresno State University in Animal Science. He earned the title “Pork All-American” by the National Pork Producers Council which honored pig farmers below 40 who established themselves as group leaders.
