The Arizona Supreme Court just lately dominated that Proposition 307 wouldn’t be on the November poll. The measure would have allowed voters to determine on tax cuts from final yr’s state legislative session.
The cuts had been handed as a response to Proposition 208’s tax on rich Arizonans. Proposition 208 was dominated unconstitutional by a Maricopa County choose final month.
Joe Thomas is the president of the Arizona Education Association, which spearheaded the motion to go Propuosition 208 to fund Arizona’s colleges.
“It’s going to have kind of a double-whammy impact, the loss of 208 and the court deciding that they’re going to push these tax cuts through, and not give voters the opportunity to weigh in on them,” mentioned Thomas.
Thomas says the lack of Proposition 208 would value Arizona colleges about $800 million.
Those in favor of each rulings name them a win for state taxpayers.
