Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister M.R.Okay. Panneerselvam on Saturday announced the creation of a gene pool of indigenous kinds of fruits, greens and medicinal plants as soon as broadly cultivated in Tamil Nadu, however now extinct.

The seeds shall be produced on the State’s horticultural farms and distributed to farmers.
Mr. Panneerselvam additionally announced that the federal government’s plan to create a gene pool of various sorts of spices collected from throughout the nation. In the primary part, the gene pool shall be created for vital species resembling pepper and nutmeg in the State’s horticulture farms in the Nilgiris, Kodaikanal, Kolli Hills, Yercaud, Courtallam and Javvadu Hill areas. The allocation for the mission is ₹1 crore.
