India has secured approval of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the export of home mangoes to America within the new season, the commerce ministry mentioned on Tuesday.
The export of Indian mangoes has been restricted by the US since 2020 because the USDA inspectors had been unable to go to India for inspection of irradiation services due to restrictions imposed on worldwide journey as a result of of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Similarly, in 2018-19, 951 MT mangoes of USD 3.63 million had been exported and 1,095 MT price USD 4.35 million in 2019-20.
“As per estimates acquired from the exporters, the export of mangoes in 2022, could surpass the figures of 2019-20,” the ministry mentioned.
The USDA approval would pave the best way for exports from conventional mango manufacturing belts reminiscent of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
