The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has mentioned that 1, 786 ladies and youths in the state have been empowered in totally different agriculture worth chains as a part of his administration’s job creation effort.
Sanwo-Olu mentioned this on Thursday whereas inaugurating the ladies and youth empowerment programme by way of the Lagos State Agro-Processing Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support venture, in Alausa, Ikeja.
He mentioned, “I wish to congratulate the 1, 786 of you which have the priviledge to be the primary set of beneficiaries of this necessary agricultural intervention and laudable venture. As you might be conscious, the APPEALS venture is a tripartite settlement between the Lagos State authorities, the Federal Government and the World Bank.
“We are strongly committed to enhancing the agricultural productivity of small and medium-scale farmers in Lagos State and improving the agricultural food value chain. “Agriculture will offer our people, especially our youths and women, the opportunity to make a difference in their lives, families, communities and nation.”
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya, mentioned the venture would create aggressive benefits for youths to spice up the state’s economic system.
“It is pertinent to note that the APPEALS project is directly contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations as well as the THEMES agenda of the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu by exploring and investing in the youth and innovation of technology to create competitive advantages in ensuring Lagos attains a 21st-century economy,” she mentioned.
