The Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is hoping to make use of the China-Laos Railway to bolster the export of agricultural produce. The Ministry is advising agriculture authorities to enhance the standard and yields of 9 crops to allow them to be bought to China.
The agreements embody 100,000 tons of peanuts, 100,000 tons of cassava, 200,000 tons of cashew nuts, 50,000 tons of durians, 100,000 tons of bananas and 100,000 tons of mangoes. These crops will likely be bought to China, the most important market for all Lao exports, over 5 years from 2021 to 2026.
