“To the Patrons, Students and Teachers of American Schools:
The theme of the twenty-first observance of American Education Week ought to strike a responsive chord within the hearts of all patriotic residents. EDUCATION FOR A STRONG AMERICA has in it a well timed word of optimism. It reminds us of the sources of our inherent power — the braveness and fortitude of particular person women and men dedicated to freedom and its protection.
“Today’s younger Americans usually are not taking their freedoms as a right. They are being taught that freedom should be held by every technology; that it isn’t by hoarding, however by sacrificial giving that life features which means and energy.
“Organized schooling does its full half to make America robust. It helps to dispel ignorance and confusion. It builds information and character. It stimulates a need to realize the satisfaction of the great life and to get rid of evil from the world.

In the observance of American Education Week the next programs might be given by the totally different departments of the Farmington Public Schools:
Monday, Nov. 10, “Building Physical Fitness” — Eighth Grade

Thursday, Nov. 13, “Enriching Family Life” — Sophomore Class

The programs listed above will all be held within the High School Auditorium, starting at 9:50 o’clock within the morning. On Thursday afternoon starting at 1:30 o’clock the W. L. Johns School will give a special program of applicable numbers within the new college constructing.
On Friday afternoon at 1:45 o’clock the Annie Lloyd School can have an applicable Education Week program in that constructing.
All patrons and faculty buddies are most cordially invited to attend all or any the programs. Of course, the admission is free, and the presence of each customer might be enormously appreciated.
In addition to the special programs being offered, dad and mom and buddies of the varsity are urged to go to the school rooms at work at any hour they’re in session. Congenial pupil ushers will meet guests and escort or direct them to the classroom they want to go to.
The Publicity Committee, composed of Mrs. Essie Newman, Miss Gertrude Zimmer, and Joe M. Toalson, has made an earnest effort to contact as many organizations locally as potential and it’s hoped that they are going to be totally represented within the schools all through the week.
Two attention-grabbing and academic meals demonstrations got within the house economics division on Tuesday, Nov. 4th. The demonstration within the morning was given by Miss Effie Grant, District Supervisor with Farm Security Administration of Cape Girardeau, and Miss Ruth Flett, Supervisor for the Farmington space. This session was dedicated to the preparation of meat and vegetable dishes.
Miss Anita Dickson, house demonstration agent for St. Francois County, gave a splendid meat canning demonstration on the afternoon assembly. Miss Dickson consented to offer her assist when Mrs. Murphy, Kerr consultant, was unable to be right here due to sickness.
The assembly was nicely attended by homemakers from St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve counties. The ladies within the house economics courses have been visitors, and so they obtained very useful info.
