Nature preserve expanding by 60 acres

RURAL VILLA GROVE, Ill. (WCIA) — A nature preserve within the Villa Grove space is expanding because of the property of a neighborhood farmer.

Grand Prairie Friends, a bunch that restores open areas throughout a number of space counties, mentioned the Edna Edwards Burnett Land & Water Reserve is expanding from 20 to 80 acres. The preserve is situated at 1466-1498 County Road 100 N, Tolono. The mission starter in 2015 when Villa Grove farmer Ralph Burnett donated the preliminary 20 acres to honor his late mom.

Now with Ralph’s current passing, the person’s sons have offered 60 adjoining acres to Grand Prairie Friends. The group mentioned it used an Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation Land Acquisition Grant for the acquisition. The buy worth was not instantly out there. Grand Prairie Friends mentioned Brookfield Renewable Energy will present funds to revive the positioning over the following 30 years.

Grand Prairie Friends mentioned its preserves are open to the general public at any time.
