Parishes schedule Blessing of the Animals events

PORTLAND — Animal lovers from round Maine are invited to have their animal companions blessed open air in celebration of Saint Francis of Assisi’s Feast Day, Oct. 4.

All pets are welcome to attend any of the Blessing of the Animals events. As prayers are provided, the pets might be gently sprinkled with holy water.

St. Francis of Assisi was identified for his love of all of God’s creatures. The blessing remembers that love, and likewise acknowledges the necessary place that pets maintain in folks’s hearts, in keeping with a information launch from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland.
