After World War II, African American group leaders from 4 of our native counties gathered to pool their sources and petition Virginia for a highschool for Black college students. It opened in Culpeper and was named George Washington Carver Regional High School. It stood as a beacon for a group devoted to the promise of education, and plenty of of our group leaders as we speak are lively alumni.
