The Tasmanian authorities is investing nearly $50 million to speed up the state’s agriculture sector, together with supporting strategic partnerships with key trade associations. 

As a part of the dedication to sustainably develop agriculture, a complete of $2.3 million has been allotted over 4 years by the Strategic Industry Partnership Program (SIPP) to companion with agriculture trade associations to ship COVID-19 resilience, restoration and sustainable development. 

Five grants totalling $270,000 have been awarded to agriculture trade associations within the newest spherical of Strategic Industry Partnership Program, introduced final week. 

Proposals from the Tasmanian Hemp Association, Cider Tasmania, the Tasmanian Seed Industry Group, the Tasmanian Agricultural Productivity Group, and Dairy Tasmania are all being supported. 

For instance, Cider Tasmania will undertake an academic marketing campaign to strengthen the market positioning of the sector as prime quality and regional. 

The marketing campaign will goal recognized “influencers” within the beverage trade to lift consciousness of the wealthy regional Tasmanian cider experiences accessible to the vacationer market and the premium cider produced in Tasmania, in comparison with different giant market manufacturers that use juice concentrates. 

The tasks supported are as follows: 

  • Tasmanian Hemp Association (THA), $100,000 – Health and wellbeing advantages of Sustainable Tasmanian Hemp Food – National Consumer Awareness Campaign aligned with the Tasmanian model; 
  • Cider Tasmania, $15,000 – Craft cider model work and hotelier training in hospitality trade aligned with the Tasmanian model; 
  • Tasmanian Seed Industry Group, $50,000 – Development of the Tasmanian seed trade by the implementation of the Tasmanian Seed Industry Plan; 
  • Tasmanian Agricultural Productivity Group (TAPG), $80,000 – Agriculture Innovation EXPO; and 
  • Dairy Tasmania, $25,000 – Dairy Farm COVID-19 security and outbreak administration coaching. 

The SIPP gives focused grants on a co-investment foundation to peak trade our bodies and organisations in recognition of the vital position they play in supporting agri-food industries, particular person producers and agribusinesses. These grants are designed to assist trade development, job creation, and prosperity in our rural communities. 

Industry is offering a co-investment to the 5 authorized SIPP tasks of over $170,000. 

These tasks are strongly aligned with Tasmania’s Sustainable Agri-Food Plan 2019-23, the Competitiveness of Agriculture for 2050 White Paper, and the Rural Water Use Strategy, with extra to come back. 

The SIPP will proceed to fund a various vary of tasks with farmers and producers to assist our farm-gate goal of 10 billion by 2050 with job creation and prosperity in our rural communities.
