Tennessee Education Dept. Rejects Complaint That MLK Book Is ‘Anti-White Teaching’

The Tennessee Department of Education rejected a grievance claiming a curriculum that includes books on the civil rights motion violated a state regulation banning the instructing of important race idea.

The grievance, filed in July by the conservative group Moms for Liberty, claimed the curriculum known as Wit and Wisdom taught in Williamson County—close to Nashville—violated the regulation handed in May, The Tennessean reported.

It particularly pointed to books specializing in civil rights icons together with Martin Luther King Jr. and Ruby Bridges as violating the regulation.

“The classroom books and trainer manuals reveal each specific and implicit Anti-American, Anti-White, and Anti-Mexican instructing,” the grievance reads.

The grievance gave examples from the books they declare to have a “slim and slanted obsession on historic errors” and “a closely biased agenda, one which makes kids hate their nation, one another, and/or themselves.”

It cited examples together with pictures of white firemen blasting Black kids with hearth hoses “to the purpose of ‘bruising their our bodies and ripping off their garments,'” segregated consuming fountains, and white individuals holding indicators that stated, “we would like segregation.”
