Dalits (previously often called untouchables) are on the bottom rung of a deeply discriminatory Hindu caste system. As a traditionally deprived group, they’re protected by legislation, however they proceed to face systemic and widespread prejudice and violence. And for Dalit girls, who account for about 16% of India’s girls, that features sexual violence. Rape has typically been utilized by higher caste teams to punish or disgrace the group.
