Sold Out Alcohol Abstinence and Character Education Program President, and former professional soccer participant Roman Gabriel III (Son of former Rams QB Roman Gabriel) will go to college students in Dare County center colleges on Wednesday April 13 — 8:30 a.m. Cape Hatteras Secondary, 10:30 a.m. Manteo Middle, and 2:00 pm First Flight Middle School.
High Schools applications are on Thursday April 14 — Cape Hatteras Secondary School at 8:30 a.m., Manteo HS at 10:30 a.m., and First Flight HS at 2:00 p.m. Since 2012 the Sold Out Program has impacted over 400,000 college students.
Sold Out ‘s mission is to educate, encourage, and challenge students to live a life of alcohol and drug abstinence, while delivering a 100% accountable interactive online video life skills, and overall health, wellness, and fitness education platform. The Sold Out School Program is all about building bridges between community, parents, and schools.
The CDC reports that 28% of middle school students will try alcohol for the first time, and 68% of 12th graders have tried alcohol. On average, underage drinkers consume more drinks per drinking occasion than adult drinkers. And these stats have arose since the onset of COVID pandemic. The program also addresses post COVID student challenges: 35 % of students 13-17 nationwide are experiencing some sort of mental and emotional difficulties. High School suicide is up 25% for seniors nationwide.
Sold Out provides a Fitness, Health, and Wellness program online that fits into school counseling, PE Health and athletic programs.
To date, the program has helped up to 70 % of middle school students in five states (including North Carolina), take a public alcohol abstinence pledge to be accountable to their teachers, coaches, parents, and fellow students.
