Amid the nation’s highest surge of COVID-19 instances, some universities are requiring college students to ditch material and surgical masks and put on the more protecting KN-95 or N-95 masks. 

LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans now requires college students and college to put on KN-95 or N-95 masks inside buildings on campus, college leaders introduced Jan. 3, citing the transmissibility of the Omicron variant. Campus members might be given 5 masks to use over a 10-day interval.
