Virginia Union University is getting $2 million to assist an innovation center on the faculty. The legislature Friday accepted a funds modification that Gov. Glenn Youngkin proposed for a one-time funding allotment.
It’s unclear what the innovation center will appear like, VUU leaders mentioned, aside from it would prepare future staff, guarantee they’ve the job abilities they want and assist construct wealth for college students of traditionally Black schools and universities.
“We’re extremely appreciative the governor and his administration, as [did] the prior governor and administration, see the importance of Virginia Union University as a vital contributor to the direction strategically of the Commonwealth,” VUU president Hakim Lucas mentioned.
The funds language instructs the State Council for Higher Education to switch the funds to the town of Richmond to cowl the prices of the innovation center.
