WATERLOO — The Board of Education will consider technology purchases Monday to substitute computer systems and ActivBoards which have reached the top of their life cycle.
The board meets at 5 p.m. within the Education Service Center, 1516 Washington St.
Officials advocate changing Promethean ActivBoard interactive shows first put in in Waterloo Community Schools’ school rooms in 2008 with ActivPanels, the next-generation product, in six colleges. There can be 231 of the units, 186 top adjustable stands and 29 cellular stands.
Becker, Kingsley, Kittrell, Orange and Poyner elementary colleges – which have the oldest ActivBoards, in accordance to a memo – had been chosen for the upgrades. In addition, units can be bought for Central Middle School because it quickly occupies the Waterloo Career Center enlargement constructing.
Total price for the gadgets, bought from Illinois-based CDW-G, can be $889,525. Installation by Communications Engineering Company of Hiawatha would price one other $98,362. Seven district colleges beforehand had ActivPanels put in.
Board members can even consider the acquisition of 300 workers laptop computer computer systems, 1,750 secondary pupil Chromebooks for sixth- and ninth-graders, 475 Chromebooks for Lou Henry Elementary School and a pair of,225 administration licenses.
